India And Its Obsession With Anti-Pakistani Movies
The recent Bollywood films are an indication of the fact that Bollywood is obsessed with Pakistan. From copying our songs to literally making anti-Pakistani movies- Bollywood has come a long way.
In this blog, we’ll uncover why Bollywood is so obsessed with Pakistan and still dares to make movies against Pakistan.
Bollywood’s Obsession with Anti-Pakistani Movies
For years there has been significant support from Pakistan when it comes to Bollywood.
A major portion of Pakistan loves Bollywood movies. From diehard fans of SRK to fanatic fans of Salman Khan, Pakistanis have come far when it comes to pouring love for their Bollywood idols.
Both countries share almost the same culture and this may be the reason they have a joint relationship for both Bollywood and Lollywood.
Bollywood’s Fascination with Pakistani Music
It is no surprise that Bollywood has always harbored an obsession with Pakistani music.
Both the countries for years have exchanged their musicians and singers. This barter started back in the 90s when Noor Jahan used to travel to India for her singing gigs. On the other hand, Pakistan loved the voice of Kishore Kumar and India’s nightingale Lata Mangeshkar.
The singing game of both these countries has been strong. From Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan to RD Burman from India. they had quite an influence on people of all ages.
But it was only recently, that Bollywood started to copy Pakistani music. Bollywood has a history of copying Pakistani music. Only recently, Bollywood copied Pakistan’s “Passori” and added the song to their film.
Another occurrence was when Bollywood copied the famous Pakistani song “Nach Panjaban”. The original singer Abrar- ul- haq also filed a case against the producers and filmmaker.
Although there has been mutual respect and love for music, it has always been Bollywood that has initiated steps to further worsen the ties.
Bollywood And Its Obsession With Anti-Pakistani Movies
The anti-Pakistani movies narrative is nothing new in India. But we still wonder why the anti-Pakistani agenda pushed so much.
It is only recently that we have started this agenda being pushed way too much. A lot of leading actors including Hrithik Roshan, Deepika Padukone, and Anil Kapoor have seen being part of such films.
The newest addition to that list is the movie “Fighter” which stars all these major names but to our disappointment this movie is anti-Pakistani movies.
As the news has it, this movie is on the 9 February incident where India faced a terrific defeat. Furthermore, there have always been many people including film critics who are also criticising this move from Bollywood.
For those of you who think that this is the first time, this isn’t. In 2023, Bollywood released a movie that was also anti-Pakistani.
Does Politics Have Any Role In Anti-Pakistani Content
Undoubtedly, politics has a huge role in anti-Pakistani propaganda.
The anti-Pakistani stems from politics. Ever since the regime change in India, the BJP government has tried its best to tarnish the reputation of Pakistan as much as it can.
We have over time, seen more and more radicalized and anti-Pakistani movies to satisfy the right wing of India.
Conclusion
Pakistan’s movie industry has been through a change of period when it comes to its content, but we have never made a movie against India. It seems that India loves playing this game of gaslighting and manipulation to tarnish and further break the ties with Pakistan. Bollywood’s current anti-Pakistani film trend is a reflection of the country’s long-standing fascination, which has influenced many facets of Indian cinema. Despite the shared cultural legacy and long-standing affection between the two countries’ film industries, Bollywood’s love with Pakistan frequently takes controversial forms. Bollywood has always been enthralled by Pakistani music, but recent cases of plagiarism have strained relations between the two cultures. Additionally, There are concerns over the political objectives underpinning Bollywood films, given the prevalence of anti-Pakistani narratives in these works. It is apparent that political changes in India, especially those brought about by the BJP government, which has attempted to demonise Pakistan in order to stoke right-wing sentiments, are correlated with an increase in content critical of Pakistan. The intentional spread of anti-Pakistani sentiment in film not only runs the risk of escalating tensions between the two nations but also jeopardises the prospects for mutual understanding and cultural interaction. Bollywood’s frequent unfavourable portrayal of Pakistan feeds a cycle of animosity and division, even though Pakistan’s film industry has abstained from creating content of a similar nature against India. The preponderance of films in Bollywood that are critical of Pakistan ultimately represents a concerning pattern of politicisation and propaganda meant to further splinter the already tense relations between the two countries.
