What a good start to the week this was, isn’t it? Watching Kolkata Knight Riders Beat Sunrisers Hyderabad in an intense match was not on our bingo card but wow, what a match that was. This will be the third time KKR will be bringing IPL trophy home.

It is not surprising that Kolkata knight riders for years have been the “IT” team for many of us. Since IPL’s inception, Kolkata Knight Riders has always been the talk of the town primarily because of how good of a team they were and most importantly because the great Khan, Shahrukh Khan, was the team’s owner.
Last night as we saw it, Kolkata Knight Riders won the IPL trophy and defeated Sunrises Hyderabad by eight wickets. The match was held in Chennai. You know that the match is gonna be intense when Pat Cummins is leading the team. Gautam Gambhir led Kolkata Knight riders were all prepared for the great show.
Kolkata Knight Riders went ahead to bowl out Hyderabad for the lowest IPL final. It was a mere 113 with Austarilia’s Starc whose returning figure was 2-14. Initially, the match was oscillating between both the teams and it was almost uncertain as to what would happen.
As the match progressed we saw how Kolkata’s batters faced immense pressure and difficulty initially. Sunil Narine, Rahmanullah Gurbaz who scored 39 and Venkatesh Iyer were almost unbeaten and undoubtedly they guided the team to spare the partnership of 91. On the other hand skipper Shreyas Iyer remained undefeated on 6.
The captain of Sunrise Hyderabad, Pat Cummins earlier decided to bat first as he won the toss first. It was later when Cummins was dropped on 10 by Starc, as he guided the team past 100 before being dismissed for 24 by Russell.
In the end, when the team won, the West Indies Stalwart Russell said whilst he was wiping away his tears “We are happy that all of us were very disciplined and worked hard towards one goal. This franchise has done a lot for me. It’s a big gift from all of us to them”

If there is one team that we have to talk then it has to be Pat Cummins-led Sunrisers Hyderabad. This team proved to be top and the way it shocked most of us is still shocking. Last year as we saw the owner Kalanithi Maran making the big decision to include Pat Cummin most saw this as a huge risk and, many even laughed at the decision but who knew that this one decision would change the course of the entire team.
After many years of struggle, this specific team rose to fame out of nowhere. On 15 April 2024 in a great turn of events, Sunrisers Hyderabad broke its records for the highest IPL total with a sensational 287 for three against RCB.
Following the 4 match-winning streak, the team lost to RCB and another defeat against CSK in Chennai. the team in the end played against KKR at Ahmedabad in Qualifier 1 which they lost and played the second Qualifier 2 against Rajasthan Royals in Chennai. They won this match as well and advanced towards the finals. It was there when they met the mighty KKR and the rest is history.

In the end, all we can say is that what a season this was, regardless of all the tears and happy moments, cricket at the end of the day is all about spirits and passion. There is nothing like cricket and the very spirit and the rollercoaster of emotions marked it what it is.
