The ensemble was something else if we had to start. The cast was truly amazing. Every actor gave their all for their roles. Most actors were seen for the first time on the big screen but with their exceptional acting they proved to be nothing but the best.
Be it Pratibha playing Jaya the very lost and confused Deepak played by Sparsh or the innocent Phool played by Nitanshi, the cast of the film was something else. Adding more to the cast, legendary and seasoned actors like Ravi Kishan and Chhaya Kadam added more beauty to the film.
Exceptional Story
When was the last time you saw a story so beautiful you wanna visit it again? Well, it was true for Laapata Ladies. The writer of the film came up with a story that will get you in a chokehold throughout the entire film. The story was based in a lower-class area where two newlyweds find themselves lost from their husbands. The story explores the tension of Deepak and how agitated he was. Furthermore, the story went on to explore the intricate differences between characters and went on to show their respective journeys.
While Jaya was somewhat happy being away from her very toxic husband, Phool was also learning new things in life.
Kiran Rao’s Masterpiece

We gotta give it to Kiran Rao who made such a beautiful masterpiece. Her direction and overall filmmaking of the film was something that needs to be studied. The screenplay, the direction, the setting and the editing were all fabulous.
Steller Soundtrack
The soundtrack of the film was also something that matched with the entire movie. There weren’t many songs in the album but each song contributed to the story. We loved “Sajni re” which was sung by the one and only Arijit Singh. His voice complemented the film in a beautiful way. It’s been on a loop ever since we heard it.
Women’s Empowerment and Social Stereotypes

The film was very important in times like these where many women go through many societal pressures. The film beautifully explores the very intricate complexities of our society and empowers women. for example, we see how the character of Phool develops into a strong independent character. Phool was timid but by the end of the film she was seen working on a dhaba learning the art of independence and financial freedom.
The character of Jaya in film Laapata Ladies on the other hand empowers women to exceed their limits and always fight for their dreams. Her character was shown as a dreamer who wanted to chase her dreams and was eventually successful in escaping her toxic marriage and a very abusive husband.
Instances like these were very thought-provoking in an atmosphere like this where women are still conditioned. Moreover, Laapata Ladies character of Deepak was also soft and sweet when he was searching for his lost wife. We loved his character as he broke the stereotype of a strong macho man, what do you think about it?
