Are Minorities Safe In Pakistan?
Ever since the inception of Pakistan, we all have seen a recurring issue that has only repeated over the years and that issue is the rights of minorities safe in Pakistan. As time passes by we see more devastation unfolding in terms of minorities safe and minority rights in our country. Recently we saw another horrible event that took place in Sargodha and once again it has sent shivers down our spine.
Let’s dive deeper into the details.
Sargodha Blasphemy Case: Minorities Safe
It was earlier on Saturday when we heard the tragic news. At least 10 members of the Christian community were rescued on Saturday after a Muslim crowd attacked the Christian settlement on Saturday where the mob attacked the community minorities safe.
As the story was uncovered on Saturday minorities safe, it was revealed that the Muslim crowd attacked the Christian community because of a blasphemy accusation. It was covered later that the mob took place between two groups over a blasphemy accusation. Sargodha police intervened and reported that more than 44 people were identified in more than 40 people were booked as they were involved in the mob violence against the Christian community over the accused desecration of the Holy Quran in a local mosque. This happened to be the main reason behind the whole scenario.
It was later also reported that a few burned pages were found near an electric pole. After this, the police interfered and rescued the man as well as the two families from the enraged mob that was there to kill him and lynch them to death. It was also reported that people also barged into the home of the Christian family.
At least one house and a small shoe factory were also set on fire by the suspects due to the blasphemy case. Many protesters and people were gathered alleged and said the holy Quran had been desecrated by the minority members according to the police spokesperson. The number of the suspects seems to be anywhere around 400-500 where almost 40 are women. It was later said that several Christians were badly injured as a result of the mob attack.
While the house was set on fire, SHO Shahid Iqbal and other personnel entered the scene and extricated the victim from the burning house. However, after bringing him out, many people started pelting stones at the man and he was badly injured.
Is this The First Time?
This certainly isn’t the first time when events like these were covered. Earlier few years ago minorities safe, a Christian man from Sri Lanka was accused of blasphemy change and he was not just badly beaten but was burned to death. The case took over social media where it was later confirmed that the deceased was however was innocent.
Moreover, how can we forget last year’s incident where houses were burned down by the Christian community? It was reported that hundreds of people armed with batons and sticks attacked the churches and houses of Jaranwala where several Christians were also injured.
Earlier, we had cases of Mashal Khan who was mercilessly killed and till the day the preparators are out without any charges. Asiya Bibi case was also a very prominent case. All these cases are just a few that we can mention here right now. We haven’t talked about the forced conversion of Hindus and the forceful marriage of young Hindu girls who were married off against their own will.
This torture unfortunately has always been very prevalent in our society. And no matter how many times we cover, it’s saddening that there isn’t much that has happened over the years.
Conclusion
While the whole story isn’t yet unfolded it’s sad that there isn’t much the authorities have done over the years. Our religion has taught us the importance of compassion and preserving the rights of minorities safe while we as a nation our far off from the very teachings of Islam and nothing is more sad than this!
