PCB To Reevaluate Selection Committee After T20 World Cup Disappointment
We all saw what happened in the T20 World Cup and since then people have been extremely upset and frustrated. While many are questioning Babar Azam’s captaincy, there is a lot of conjecture regarding the selection committee that is notably going to make some very big changes.
Here is what we know more about it!
Changes In The PCB Selection Committee
There are some notable and apparent changes that PCB will be making throughout the selection committee. It is reported that the seven-member PCB committee is likely to undergo some massive changes after the dismal and disappointing performance of the Pakistani cricket team.
While there is so much that needs to be discussed over time as to what went wrong, change however seems like the only constant.
Wahab Riaz As Chair
It was only a few months ago when we saw Wahab Riaz coming down from the title as the chair although he was serving as a member of the committee. Around that time, we saw that a voting round was taken in which people were voting and it was later revealed by Mohsin Naqvi who at that time stated that “make a majority decision based around debate and argument to reach a satisfactory result.”
The closure that we ultimately saw was something very unprecedented and it was something that many saw can happen at that time. While we understand that many thought that Wahab’s inclusion in the committee was due to the de facto head, Mohsin Navi on the other hand that not everyone is immune from the adverse and sudden consequences.
Babar Azam To Drop From Captaincy?
The main question ever since the world cup remains as to what is the faith of Babar Azam’s captaincy. Will we be seeing it again? Will there be anyone else replacing it over time?
While there is so much conjecture regarding his captaincy, no one seems to know anything about it. Furthermore, it is felt that the call to take either way is not pressing, given Pakistan’s next white-ball game in November.
Gary Kristen And His Dismay
Gary Kristen was appointed as the head coach of the team back in April and after the exit of the Pakistani team from the tournament, Gary’s dismay and displeasure over the team’s performance is apparent. It was reported that the reason for his apparent dismay seems to lie in the fact that there seems to be no unity at all. The reports selection committee however suggest that there was robust and direct exchange of views.
Conclusion
Right now, there is utter silence from all sides and as far as we see, if there is no public communication then there might be revisions within the player’s contracts till June 30. Though the contracts seem to be for three years there can be some apparent changes in the contracts. This may happen so selection committee, that players and their contracts can be removed over time or so depending on their overall performance.
