Profile Screenshots on WhatsApp has said that its beta version now has a feature that safeguards users’ profile images. Before, WhatsApp users could keep their profile photos private from outsiders, but there was no way to stop other users from snapping screenshots of their photos. Recent reports indicate that this is anticipated to change shortly, though.
According to a report from WA Beta Info, the messaging behemoth has gone one step further and stopped users from taking screenshots within the app, in addition to removing the ability to store or download profile photographs.

This appears to be the standard behavior and isn’t exclusive to a particular app build. Some are reporting this behavior on previous editions of WhatsApp, whereas my cellphone is running the beta version v2.24.6.16. This suggests that the feature is not limited to particular builds, but rather is being released through server-side updates.
Meta probably wants to avoid impersonation and other privacy issues, which is why it is prohibiting profile screenshots on WhatsApp. This feature is currently absent from other cross-platform messaging platforms, such Signal and Telegram in particular.
