Isreal Targets Civilians In Rafah
The world has been witnessing a live genocide for the past seven months. Seven months of pain and despair in Rafah, seven months of agony and grief and only this week we witnessed something so horrific and brutal that it is hard to get it out of our brains. The massacre at Rafah whilst the Palestinians were sleeping at night is something that would take decades for us to forget completely.
Here is what we know more about the horrific story.
What And How Did It Happen Rafah?
It was only a few weeks ago when Israeli officials claimed that the should be evacuating Gaza and moving towards a safe zone. The safe zone, however, was Rafah, where the besieged Palestinians moved considering it as a “safe zone”. It was only after a few days that Israeli airstrikes were launched at Rafah which was densely populated with refugees including many children and women. In a turn of events, we saw how Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ordered an evacuation plan for civilians from the southern region of the country.
The Gaza Government officials said that Israel dropped at least seven 900kg (2,000 pounds) bombs and many missiles on the supposed “safe zone”. The Israeli government responded by saying that the fire took place in the camp after a nearby tank took fire and not because of them. The Israeli prime minister that the airstrikes were conducted because they wanted to target Hamas. In a later message, the Israeli prime minister added that it was a “mistake” to do anything like that.
Almost 44 people were killed brutally as the tents were burned down. Eyewitnesses tell horrible details of the events where children and women were burned alive. More than a dozen children were killed when airstrikes hit Rafah.
It was said later by Netanyahu “It is impossible to achieve the goal of the war without eliminating Hamas by leaving four Hamas battalions in Rafah.”
Why Is There A Global Outrage To It?
Within a few minutes, we saw a global outrage that took the internet by storm. Many people started sharing and reposting the horrific details and images where children and people were seen burned down. It took over social media massively when a man was watched holding a beheaded child.
These visuals and images were something that sent chills down our spine. It was after a while when it took over social media and many people from all parts of the world started resharing the videos to amplify their voices for the Palestinians.
“We pulled out children who were in pieces. We pulled out young and elderly children. The fire in the camp was unreal,” Mohammad Abussua, who was at the scene, told the officials.
Thousands and millions took over social media where they raised their voices for the Palestinians. This response was great as the “All eyes on Rafah” post garnered more than 34 million reposts and reshares within 24 hours. Many celebrities from both Hollywood and Bollywood have also raised their voices.
While people were raising their voices, there was pressure from the global course that was put on Israel. United Nations said in the post “This horror must stop”. Furthermore, the Canadian officials were seen condemning the whole scene. In a controversial turn of events Joe Biden was seen saying that it doesn’t cross his “red line”. Even the French prime minister was seen condemning the whole scene.
Where Are Muslim Countries?
In the end, as many visuals and images come out we all question one thing and that is where are Muslim countries? The supposed reputation of Muslim and arab countries seems to be more precious to them rather than the lives of people.
There is no apparent response from Saudia Arabia and many other Muslim countries. What’s more disappointing is that there seems to be no aid coming towards the besieged and innocent Palestinians.
Conclusion
In the end, we are beyond revolted and moved by the visuals coming out from Rafah. These visuals can move even the hardest of souls but apparently, it hasn’t moved the Israeli government and the IDF that continue with their operations to kill innocent lives.
