Why Is Azam Khan Criticised?
The World Cup Azam Khan is going on right now which means we are all excited for the intense matches and although we saw how the recent few matches turned out to be for Pakistan, we are still loyal to our cricket team. But it was recently that we saw a name popping up on our social media and that was, Azam Khan.
From national trolls to being bullied online, why is he criticised? Here is why we think so.
Who Is Azam Khan?
Azam Khan first emerged as a cricketer back in 2019 where he was representing Quetta Gladiater as a key player. After this his career took off as we saw him playing league and no doubt he was one of the best and most reputed batsmen.
We saw a shift in his career as he performed well in PSL (Pakistan Super League) and being the son of legendary cricketer Moin Khan, he did inherit the cricketing genes.
In 2021, he made his international debut where we saw him playing against teams like West Indies and Ireland. It was after this when Azam Khan, became sort of a household name but here is a twist to it as to why it became that way.
Azam Khan And Fitness
The first thing that probably everybody notices in him is the fact that he is overweight. It is undoubtedly true and undeniable that he is overweight and falls into the category of fat people.
But regardless of that, is it just to criticise him? Is it ok for us to criticise someone merely based on their physical looks? We all have witnessed how amazing of a player he was and he still plays well but for some reason, it is always his weight that is brought into the question and discussion.
A clip of him went viral where he was eating shawarma after the India vs Pakistan match and to no surprise, we saw how people started trolling him online. From social media bullies to online trolls, the young champ has seen it all.
Is He A Product Of Nepotism?
Another major concern that many people have about Azam Khan is the fact that he is referred to as the golden duck of the squad which means that he is the product of nepotism. According to many, his father’s association with the cricket board led him to come here.
Many people on social media are saying that he being the golden duck of the squad has led the team to take him and his bad performances are overlooked because of the connections and his background.
He was heavily trolled during the World Cup match against the United States where he was struggling to score runs against the opposing teams.
During the match, Azam Khan came out to bat with his team under pressure and was trapped by LBW by Nosthush Kenjige on the very first delivery. It was clear that he was struggling to make any scores. Furthermore, social media users blasted him for his uneven form and even blamed the nepotism debate around him as he is the son of Moin Khan.
What Do We Think?
In the end, we believe that it’s never ok to troll someone merely based on their physical features. At the end of the day, we think that Pakistan is generally a very toxic society when it comes to overweight people and therefore, things like these should never be tolerated.
Furthermore, there should be certain guidelines that even Azam Khan should follow because, at the end of the day, this sport is all about fitness. We wish him the best of luck in the future!
