Is PTI Given A Level Playing Field?
In the dynamic world of politics, fairness is a big deal. We often talk about having a “level playing field” to make sure everyone has a fair chance. We are almost near to the election date and it seems quite intense. Nobody thought that these elections would turn out to be this dull and dreary but the competition is tough.
Another thing that most of us didn’t expect was the presence or rather the absence of PTI. Here’s what we think about the largest political party in the country.
Introduction
We must be aware by now that the past two years have been rough and tough for PTI. Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf was and has always been one of the leading and popular parties in the country. One of the main reasons why it’s popular is because of its leader, Imran Khan who is also going through a very tough time.
Recently, it has been criticized that PTI is nowhere seen when it comes to elections and election campaigns.
Major and leading parties like PML-N and PPP are seen all over when it comes to election campaigns and jalsa’s. However, PTI is nowhere to be seen.
Most PTI Level Playing Field supporters are merely arrested for holding posters and banners of PTI. Some PTI politicians have also claimed that they are not allowed to hold protests in support of PTI.
When it comes to holding virtual jalsa, the internet connections are turned down to stop the jalsa. All this is done to hamper the progress of PTI and PTI-led campaigns.
But the question arises, why is it happening? Why isn’t PTI given a level playing field?
Here are some reasons why.
Lack Of Leadership
One of the core reasons why PTI lacks enough representation is because the leadership is severely lacking.
Imran Khan is behind bars and has been charged multiple times in different cases. The Level Playing Field update shows that he was sentenced to 10 years of jail time.
This has therefore sent shivers and waves down his entire team and support. Right now, Imran Khan is going through an extremely tough time.
The very hope of him getting out is very low and it’s truly unfortunate and unfair to send one the greatest if not THE greatest leader to jail.
PTI is therefore lacking and Level Playing Field his absence of him.
Unfair Treatment Towards PTI Members
Most PTI members are Level Playing Field either hiding or are threatened.
Earlier, most PTI leaders were given tickets by various political parties. Some staunch PTI members including Murad Saeed are still in hiding as they will arrested as soon as they are found.
Only recently, Rehan Zeb Khan was shot brutally. PTI Level Playing Field members are constantly criticized and targeted for their support of PTI.
Earlier, some PTI members were injured and some were also arrested in false cases just to hamper their progress.
Party Symbol Theft
Another major development that caused tremors to PTI supporters was the party symbol that was stolen from them.
For years, we have seen the famous “bat” representing the party. This symbol was not allotted to the party this time following the election season.
ECP refused to allot the symbol to the party creating confusion among its supporters. This problem was solved when every candidate was allotted a rather different symbol.
This has created confusion among the masses and many have criticised how unfair it was.
Conclusion
The past few weeks have been equally tough for PTI and its many supporters.
With the ongoing disparity and unfair treatment towards one political party has been extremely difficult. From changing election symbols to sending many PTI members to jail, from falsely abducting them to killing some of them- PTI has seen all.
Despite, all this PTI remains the most famous party. A large number of the population is still voting for PTI.
The coming weeks seem to be one of the most hectic yet important weeks for this county. The next few weeks will determine the fate of this country.
In our exploration of whether PTI is given a level playing field, we also delve into the crucial aspect of public opinion, as seen in our other blog on ‘Public Opinion And Imran Khan’
