A little-known senator from Pakistan’s least populous province was named the caretaker prime minister of the country. Anwar ul Haqs Tenure was supposed to last till the election results were out. As a politician, he wasn’t known in the public. He belonged to Balochistan.
The Balochistan Problem
One of the most striking and most talked about things during Anwar ul Haq’s tenure was the Balochistan issue. It is very striking because Anwar ul Haq belongs to Balochistan. It was very disappointing that he couldn’t perform his duties well because many Balochis were still deprived of their rights.
As a prime minister spoke about the issue and didn’t do much about it. During his tenure, the riots between Balochis and the police were the most frequent. Furthermore, many people took to the streets of Balochistan. Many also criticised Anwar ul Haq for his irresponsibility and tone-deafness towards the Balochis.
As many netizens spoke they were very disappointed to see what Anwar did for the people of Balochistan. As someone who hails from Balochistan, he was supposed to do at least something for them, but unfortunately, we saw him playing just the opposite role.

It was also during Anwar ul Haq’s tenure that he faced criticism online for not taking any action regarding social media censorship. During Anwar’s tenure, it was observed that most amount of bans took place. During his tenure, Twitter and other social media apps were constantly banned. People who were reportedly seen to be objecting or criticizing his regime experienced a massive backlash or their accounts were permanently blocked. This also meant that people were not allowed to share their opinions via social media. It was a big failure during his regime and sadly no action was taken.
Selective Approach
It was also during his regime that many people noticed that he had a very biased approach. Though he came from PML-N he was seen supporting his respective party, but it was disappointing to see him not taking action for his opposition who were struggling massively.
It was also during Anwar ul Haq’s tenure that most abductions and arrests of PTI politicians took place. It was during his time that the country was politically very unstable but no such action was ever exercised by his side.
Bottomline
If we look at the performance and Anwar’s tenure, then it was a massive disappointment. Despite the torturous ride, we hope only for good in the future.
