Religious Atrocity: Man Burned Down Over Blasphemy Allegations
Blasphemy allegations are nothing new in our country and with every passing day, we are seeing more and more horrific outcomes of religious atrocity and extremism. What starts as blasphemy allegations always ends up in something more extreme and violent. The news of Swat is bone-chilling and shakes one’s soul.
Here is more to the news.
Local Tourist Over Blasphemy Allegations
A thirty-six-year-old man was killed in the northeastern region of Pakistan and his body was completely burned. The news reported that he was accused of describing the Holy Quran and was charged with serious blasphemy allegations.
As reported by local reports, it was reported that the man was burned down in the Madyan area of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Thursday night over blasphemy allegations, the local police claim.
It was later revealed that the law forces had taken the main suspect from the area while the other set him on fire over blasphemy allegations. Later the unruly ruffians also set the police vehicles on fire and damaged the police damaging the police officials and vehicles as well over the blasphemy allegations.
Some police officials also said that “Eight cops sustained injuries after the outrageous protestors and mob tried to enter the police station.” The police further added that the man died on the spot because he was set on fire and tortured to death, he was burnt alive. The video that is circulating on social media can be seen where many people are burning the man alive and chanting religious slogans.
Chief Minister Of KPK Takes Notice
Meanwhile, the case was reported to the CM of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Ali Amin Gandapur took notice of the entire situation and sent a report from the police chief. In a telephonic conversation, the CM directed the police to take immediate steps to control the situation further and urge the people to remain calm amidst this chaos. The blasphemy allegations are furthermore not clear.
It was also reported later that the man was taken to the police by the police officials and was taken out by the mob and attacked by them after which he was burned alive. It was also reported that the man was a tourist from Sialkot who was later accused of blasphemy and was said to be “insulting the Quran.” However, it is unclear whether he was insulting or not. The blasphemy allegations itself are unclear.
Is This The First Time?
This isn’t surely the first time that something like this has happened. Earlier, last week we saw something more horrendous and merciless when a Christian man was also accused of blasphemy and the very blasphemy allegations that led to a mob attack.
The blasphemy allegations further worsened the situation and the mob attacked a shoe shop while also injuring the accused and other police officials as they were trying to take him out.
Before that, we saw a similar situation at Ichra Baazar in Lahore where a woman was accused of Blasphemy. The blasphemy allegations led to a severe mob that was ready to attack the woman over a piece of shirt which was initially misread and that led to a huge scene. The incident not only went viral but it was something that charged the nation as to why are these incidents so common these days.
But that isn’t the only incident, there is a plethora of incidents that have taken place since then which have led to horrible consequences one way or another. Last year Christian houses were burned down near Faislabad over blasphemy allegations. Mashal Khan was also murdered over seemingly similar blasphemy allegations. Asiya Bibi was also accused of blasphemy and how can we forget the Srilankan man who was burned to death over blasphemy allegations? In our never-ending list of blasphemy allegations these are just the tip of the iceberg.
All these cases have taken place in a time frame of one year or two.
Final Words
While we are shocked after hearing this news we are to question our stare for their complete absence in matters like these. How many more blasphemy allegations till we have enough? How many more deaths will the state realise that it’s time to do something? While we await for answers some families await for justice!
