Is there a possible end to Israel’s Palestine war?
Israel’s Palestine war
It has officially been more than three months since the Israel’s Palestine war. What started as an attack by the militant group Hamas resulted in bloodshed and loss of life on both sides but mostly in Palestine. More than 22,404 people are dead in Gaza, a large number of which includes children mostly under the age of 15. A lot of these people include paramedic staff, journalists, nurses, and other emergency staff. With so many, burned and killed to death, we wonder if there is any possible end to this war. A war that was escalated by the immediate retaliation and response by the Israeli IDF forces has now resulted in the deaths of thousands, removing people and lineages from the face of the earth.
This outbreak of violence has led many geopolitical experts to question whether there will be an end to this war. With the call of the 7-day ceasefire, it was apparent that Israel wouldn’t spare anyone once the ceasefire was over. And as predicted, mass murder started taking place again.
While we talk about a possible end to the ceasefire, we must remember that this war has been going on for decades and decades. It includes a variety of complex historical, political, religious, and territorial issues. A possible end has been in question ever since 1948.
A possible end was asked for when more than 200,000 refugees found shelter in the north of Gaza in the narrow green strip of the deserts, many of whom thought that they’d return home within a few weeks.
A possible end was also raised when Nakba happened. A major event in the history of Israel’s Palestine war who were expelled by the zionist forces from their homes. Almost 750,000 Israel’s Palestine war were expelled and about 78% of the land was grabbed by the zionist forces. Palestinians still have the keys to their homes, in hopes of returning one day.
A possible end is only possible when the Israeli forces put down their weapons. If the Israel’s Palestine war forces pursue a more full-scale ground invasion of Gaza and continue to wipe more people out of their land and kill them, then it is an absolute recipe for more casualties and deaths.
Many Middle Eastern experts believe that the conflict is going to enter a more destructive phase. With the blockade of food, water, and electricity by the Israeli forces, it is clear that the next phase is going to be a phase of hunger for the Palestinians who are already deprived of essentials like food and water. The intervention in Yemen seems to be more complex and hints at a major shift in the entire region and puts the Middle Eastern region on a red alert. To end this war, there are certain things that we need to keep in mind;
Return of hostages
The Israel’s Palestine war militant group Hamas must return all Israeli hostages which were captured ever since October 7. Many of these hostages were returned and have returned home safely. On the other hand, IDF forces have held many Palestinians captive under extreme conditions. These hostages include children as young as 11, who are treated horribly by IDF soldiers.
There must be rules of war
International law and bodies like the UN must establish clear limits for what is permitted in war. Israel has many a time crossed these limits. These limits include, not killing civilians and targeting only terrorists and militant groups. Furthermore, it is prohibited to take people and hold them as hostages. Since October 7, Israel has killed more than 20,000 civilians, a massive number!
Safeguard of paramedics
It is explicitly prohibited to carry out any attacks on hospitals, healthcare personnel and emergency staff. Israel has violated the UN Charter article 1, 1945 and has incessantly targeted and killed many paramedics and healthcare staff. Almost 15 health ambulances and nine health institutions have been hit by the Israeli forces including the building of the health ministry.
The Palestinians are the most hit and affected by this Israel’s Palestine war. While Israelis have access to food and other daily life necessities is estimated that half of the Palestinians are deprived of food and clean water. There should be a complete allowance of aid that is sent by various countries. Countries like Rwanda, Pakistan, Turkey, United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Jordan, and Tunisia have sent aid.
Protection of Media personnel
The number of journalists killed has reached several 100. Most of them were killed while they were on duty. Only recently, Al Jazeera’s journalist Mohammad Abu Hweidy was killed in a neighborhood in Gaza where he embraced martyrdom. More than 50 media premises and offices were either partially or destroyed by the IDF forces in an attempt to suppress the voice of the Palestinians. The rights of journalists must be secured and protected.
A complete ceasefire
There must be a complete ceasefire. This is the only way in which this Israel’s Palestine war can be ended. Earlier on, a week-long ceasefire was imposed but within a week later, more than 100 people were killed. There must be a complete end to this Israel’s Palestine war. This end means an end to the illegal occupation of the Palestinian land, an end to the ethnic cleansing, an end to the mass murder of women and children, and an end that is an end to all!
Conclusion
While there have been many peace talks in the past with the inclusion of many international bodies, there has never been a single solution to this war. Israel has repeatedly, violated international laws. Ultimately, to have an end to this Israel’s Palestine war, there must be sustained efforts from both sides, especially Israel, and the support of the international community and bodies like the UN to facilitate a just and healing solution for all.
To have a possible end to this Israel’s Palestine war, we must remember that in the end, the politicians will shake hands, the war will be over, but the ever-long grief of the Palestinians will never be over.
