Ladbroke Grove Shooting Kills Young Boy
The infamous Ladbroke Grove shooting took place which left many shocked. Among them, there was a boy, 15-year-old Rene Graham shot dead in a park in west London.
Fire, police and ambulance services attended an incident at Emslie Horniman’s Pleasance Park, Ladbroke Grove at around 19:20 on Sunday.
Some residents have mentioned that at that time, a children’s carnival rehearsal was occurring.
Suspects include four men one being 21 years of age and the other three 20, 25 years of age who have been arrested on account of murder and are currently detained.
“There were no reports of any other injuries,” the Met police said.
Det Ch Supt Christina Jessah said: The client realizes that people in society, especially those in the region where this unfortunate event occurred, will be alarmed and worried.
We all at the Met have the same concern and are employing all the available accessories to track those involved. “
Resident Cristina Cortinas
Another resident, Cristina Cortinas, also expressed her view on the shooting where she referred to it as a “tragedy.”
Members of the community have commented on the Ladbroke Grove shooting, that there is shock, disbelief and fear in the neighbourhood particularly parents some of whom have reported that they will be taking extra precautions.
Cristina Cortinas 40 years of age, a resident of the area was “Oh really sad shooting is a tragedy, really sad for the community”.
“Again a young boy has died,” she said.
I have two very young small children – I am afraid for them, I am scared for the future for them and for them growing up in this society.
“I attend a very compact school, so we are all rather close-knit, and indeed, we are all mourning.”
‘Understandably worried’
Statement By Head Of Conservative Party
Elizabeth Campbell, the head of the conservative party in the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea declared that she has no words to describe the torment of the families of the victims and the Ladbroke Grove shooting.
Some of the people will justifiably be apprehensive over this violent occurrence we have witnessed in our neighbourhood,” she said.
Oh well, according to our police teams, I will be hearing that there will be a very proactive police force move in the next couple of days. “
It claimed that the park, Emslie Horniman’s Pleasance was expected to remain shut the whole of today.
Approximately 20 officers are interpreting the area surrounding the crime scene and the forensic team is still conducting the investigations.
‘Violence must stop’
In His reaction, Joe Powell, an MP for Kensington and Bayswater said the news was horrific.
He posted on X: I’ll stop what I am doing and think of his family. Strangely, these meaningless cases of violence must come to a stop. “
The Mayor of London Sadiq Khan said: This is a very sad story that a 15-year-old boy has died in Ladbroke Grove unnecessarily.”
”I am still in daily contact with the Met Police who are doing their best to investigate this terrible event.
The Met stated that the community will observe a ‘heavy police visibility’ in the vicinity to offer ‘reassurance and assistance’.
Fatal shootings are much less frequent than stabbings in London; however, six gun homicides have been recorded to date this year, three of which happened in the past six weeks.
Conclusion
Last month, the Met also claimed that lethal barrel discharge, in other words, when a weapon is fired, had reached its lowest in 15 years.
However, several kids have recently been shot and several high-profile cases including one in Dalston in May which left a nine-year-old girl in critical condition have only boosted the public worry.
The fact that the latest shooting involved a boy who was probably only 15, and the accounts that he was assaulted while pre-carnival for children was going on and in the vicinity, will also fuel concerns about the safety of young people when schools are closing for the holidays.
