Last night we received a notification that said that petrol prices are slashed by the government. These prices earlier were somehow increased previously as we saw how the prices of diesel and petrol went up. In an attempt to provide millions with more relief, it was collectively decided by government officials to drop the prices.
New Prices For Petrol

The new prices for petrol and diesel were announced respectively last night. According to the notification, the price of petrol has been reduced by Rs 4.74 per litre. Additionally, the price of high-speed diesel has been reduced by Rs 3.86 per litre.
In a notification that was sent earlier, it was categorically said ” The prices of Petroleum products have seen a decreasing trend in the international market during the last fortnight. The oil and gas regulatory authority (OGRA) has worked out consumer prices, based on the price variations internationally.”
With these new prices petrol stands at Rs 268.36 per litre, while the new price of high-speed diesel is Rs 270.22 per liter. These prices will be effective from June 1.
The Ministry of Finance has offered minor relief to the public, contrary to the directives that were issued by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. Despite the delay in issuing the notification of a reduction in the prices of petrol and petroleum products, the ministry has decided to proceed with the recommendation anyway.
As discussed earlier, this move comes from the downgrade of prices internationally and with the advice of the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA). Ogra has proposed a reduction in prices for consumers due to a significant decline observed internationally.
