Recently a news surfaced on the internet where we saw that famous human rights activist Sarim Burney was arrested for human trafficking and was charged for it. This news took social media as we saw people responding differently to the news.

Sarim Burney was born to an influential family. Sarim always been the kindest at home had a vision to help around him. This man has done everything from solving grave issues like poverty and child marriages to spreading happiness at shelter homes.
He started his foundation at a very young age as a part of different organizations serving humanity, further beefing up his passion for humanity and the welfare of oppressed and underprivileged beings. He soon started his welfare programme as Sarim Welfare Trust International 2012.
Allegations Against Sarim Burney
It was only a week ago when Sarim Burney faced allegations that were imposed on him. These allegations were far more serious than we thought.
According to FIA (Federal Investigation Agency), they have kept him under serious remand. As more reports are coming out, we see that Sarim Burney is facing allegations of sending children abroad and human smuggling. He also appeared in the court of Margisterate East in City Court Karachi on Thursday.
More to the news also included that, Sarim Burney is facing allegations regarding his alleged involvement in the human smuggling and trafficking cases. The investigation officer also requested Sarim Burney remand to record his statement, asserting the need for further investigation.
As things moved on, we saw how Sarim’s lawyer asserted that the investigation officer lacked evidence to support the allegations and maintained that Sarim Burney’s contributions in the case are nothing and that he is a respectable figure in society and his contributions are commendable.
His lawyer said “Sarim Burney has been arrested on baseless and false charges.” emphasizing the work that his client has done over the years. He said that this allegation is nothing but an attempt to tarnish the very reputation of his client who is dedicated to making a change in society.

Sarim Burney has maintained that he however was not involved in any of that. He also said that in the court the allegations directed at him are baseless as the child in question was handed over to a couple safely for a better future all information was given to him and the required information was given to the American Embassy.
He later maintained that he would fully cooperate with the court on the investigation. He then mentioned in the court and raised an important point “Are all such children left on their own, because they abandoned them?” He also added that ” A pre-planned podcast was recorded against me.” and then he said, “I am also cooperating in this investigation.”
In light of the recent arguments of Sarim Burney and the current conditions, the court has denied the request of Sarim Burney to be discharged from the case and also ordered a two-day remand for him. The IO requested custody of Burney, citing that the evidence was not up to date and not under their liking.
It was also reported that Sarim Burney was arrested a day earlier in the day at Karachi International Airport. This detention came amid serious allegations that were levelled against him where it was cited that he was involved in smuggling almost 20 newborns to the USA for the protection of adoption.
These charges are undoubtedly very serious.

At the end of the day, the charges seem to be a very serious and with that said our only wish is that whatever is right, comes to the surface immediately. Sarim Burney on the other hand has a reputation as a dedicated and committed activist, we wish that whatever allegations are asserted against him are false and that he continues to do better.
