These past two years have been extremely dear and hard for the former prime minister and his wife Bushra Bibi. From a bunch of cases to a case that shook us all, the leader and his wife, Bushra Bibi are still behind bars for no reason at all. A new development in the case is that the court has rejected the appeal of Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi.

Imran Khan And Bushra Bibi Iddat Case

This case erupted out of nowhere when we saw that just days before the elections in February, a case was filed against the couple by the former husband of Bushra Bibi, Khawar Fareed Maneka.
The complaint was that Bushra Bibi got married to Imran Khan during the iddat period which is a specific time when a woman can’t marry another man. Once the iddat period is over, the woman is ready to marry.
However, in Bushra Bibi’s case, it was something else, her ex-husband Khawar Fareed Maneka asked the court to deem the marriage null and void. The court however has not declared anything yet.
Appeals By Bushra Bibi And Imran Khan
Since then, the couple has appealed multiple times. The couple since then has filed for multiple appeals but all of them went to waste. Another appeal is expected to be heard from Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi on July 2.
Sayed Zulfiqar Bukhari a very close aide to Imran Khan and a PTI(Pakistan Tehreek-e-insaf) party member said that “this was a sad day for the judiciary”
He further went on to say that “Hatred of a few is adamant to destroy all institutions for it. Dismissing the case shows that there is nothing against the two in this outrageous case.”
Something that was said by Khadijah Shah has moved us all because of how apt it was “It is astonishing that in the 21st century, Pakistan’s judicial system allows for indefinite imprisonment simply by marrying someone. The fact that a judge and an ex-husband try to know the menstrual cycle of a woman is a criminal assault on a woman’s autonomy and dignity. The egregious violations of human rights should appal and shake us all.”
She further went on to question the very judicial system of Pakistan and said that our country has become a laughing stock for everybody.
Charges Against Imran Khan

Imran Khan has been around the bars since August last year and since then he has seen many cases. He was primarily sentenced for the Toshakhana case and then had to face other cases subsequently. The Toshakhana case as well as the cipher case were suspended which left both Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi in the Iddat case.
Where Is Justice?
At this point, the case itself makes no sense to us. Bushra Bibi was convicted on the wrong charges and since then what we have seen happening in the courts is nothing but utter disappointment. A woman who is aged, and is charged with marrying someone else during her iddat, her menstrual cycle being discussed openly and that same woman going through trials where she has to prove her chastity is nothing but disappointing.
