Here is more to the story.
Death Toll Exceeds During Hajj
According to some recent death toll reports, this year’s Hajj saw a spike in death toll rates where m, many people lost their lives during the holy and spiritual journey. According to some reports, the death toll has exceeded more than 1000 this year. Amid the intense heatwave which was estimated to be around 100 Fahrenheit In Makkah. As reported this year, more than 10 countries saw a total number of deaths of 1,081.
These fatalities were reported from countries like Egypt, Sudan, India, Malaysia, Pakistan, Indonesia, Iran, Senegal and Tunisia. Other reports also suggested that more than 2000 people have experienced the recent heatwave amidst this scorching and deadly weather. It was also estimated that many people fainted during the pilgrimage amidst the recent heatwave.
As an Arab Diplomat very rightly said ” People were tired after being chased by security forces before Arafat day as they were very exhausted.”
Bodies Of Pilgrims
While more and more death toll are being reported, it is also reported via recent updates that the pilgrims who passed away amidst this heatwave, will be buried in Saudia and will not be sent back to their native countries and loved ones.
It must be noted that during this time around 1.8 million Muslims partook in Hajj, and the pilgrimage itself is a very outdoor activity and can have to be done at least one time in everyone’s life. During this time, Saudia Arabia sees an influx of pilgrims from all around the world where some of their locals also perform Hajj.
Hajj is performed by almost every ethnicity in the world, and while there is always a diversity of people, oftentimes the influx and the massive spike in pilgrims lead to a shortage of resources which few claimed was also the reason for this year’s death toll count.
Saudia Arabia spends billions of pounds on crowd control and safety and while there are a lot of things that are kept in mind, the shortage of all these resources is inevitable because of the massive influx and huge number of pilgrims who attend the hajj every year.
