Here is a step-by-step guide on how to perform Hajj 2024.Â
What Is The Hajj Pilgrimage?Â
The Hajj pilgrimage is one of the pillars of Islam and it has great importance in the religion Islam. As one of the pillars of Islam, it is obliged to every Muslim at least once in their lifetime so long as they have the means for it. In Urdu, we say that, if someone is “Sahab-e-stat” then they are obliged to perform Hajj 2024 at least once in their lifetime.Â
When Does Hajj Take Place?
Hajj takes place during the same period every year each year, during the month of Dhul Hijah which is also the twelfth month in the Islamic calendar. It begins of the 8th of Dhul Hijah and lasts on the 13 of Dhul Hijah. As of this year, it is taking place this year around the 14 of June to the 19th of June.
The ritual translates to “To attend the journey” and denotes both the outward act of physically travelling and the inward act of a person’s contemplation and faith.Â
Step 1: Intent Of Hajj 2024
The first step is that when performing Hajj you must do full intention and that should be pure for the sacred journey.Â
Step 2: Entering The State Of IhramÂ
The second step is when a pilgrim enters Ihram, and this is done so that the pilgrims enter a spiritual state where they will be performing the entire Hajj 2024. When the pilgrim wears the Ihram, then they do Niyyah. Men wear two white unstitched sheets, while women wear modest clothes that cover everything except their faces and hands.Â
Step 3: The Day Of ArafatÂ
The day of Arafat is one of the most significant days of Hajj 2024 and the Islamic calendar. Pilgrims make the 15km (nine-mile) journey from Mina to Mount Mercy, where they engage in wuquf, standing before Allah from noon to sunset. This site is also very significant because it is revered to be the same site where the prophet Muhammad (PBUH) delivered his last sermon which is also known as the “Khutba-Hajatul-Wida”. It is also considered to be a great deal too fast on this day, therefore many Muslims fast on this day.Â
Step 4: Stoning Of The Devil (Rami)Â
The 10th of Dhul-Hajj is Eid-ul-Adha, celebrated by Muslims all around the globe. For the first rami, pilgrims leave Muzdalfah for Minna for the stoning of the devil or rami. In this the pilgrims throw pebbles or stones at the devil, they throw seven pebbles at the largest of three columns, Jamrat-al-Aqabah. This is done as it symbolises the stoning that Adam (AS) did to repent the Satan.Â
Step 5: QurabaniÂ
This as we all know is the important part where an animal is sacrificed (Usually a sheep, goat or camel) and this is done as it symbolises the Prophet Ibrahim’s (AS) willingness to sacrifice his son which was later replaced by a lamb and that was later sacrificed.Â
This also shows the mercy and love of Allah.Â
Step 6: Halq Or TaqsirÂ
This is the 12th day of Hajj 2024 and the pilgrims are now about to leave. For this, the men cut or shave their heads and women also trim their hair by the length of a fingertip. After this, pilgrims move back to Makkah where they perform tawaf and sai which will eventually mark the completion of the Hajj 2024.
Conclusion
In the end, each step of the Hajj 2024 holds a very spiritual meaning and this journey is very significant. We wish all the pilgrims who are part of this beautiful and miraculous journey a beautiful and spiritual end.
