Oscar Nominations 2024: What You Need To Know
It’s the time of the year! The Oscar Nominations are finally out. We don’t know when was the last time we were excited about, but now that the Oscar nominations are out, there is nothing else that we are excited about (at least for now)
There is so much that we have uncovered after the Oscar nominations were announced, and here’s what we know about it!
Triumphant Success For Christopher Nolan
How can we start our blog without the mention of one of the greatest filmmakers of all time?
Christopher Nolan made quite a dent in the year 2023 after the massive success of Oppenheimer. After breaking the box office, he now dominates the 96 Oscar nominations.
Nolan’s three-hour-long film about the father of the atomic bomb received 13 Oscar Nominations for best pictures, best director, and acting nominations for Cillian Murphy, Robert Downey Jr and Emily Blunt. Multiple nominations were also given to the craft of the film.
We believe that it’s a great win for the team and we can anticipate that Cillian Murphy might win the Best Actor Oscar this year (fingers crossed)
Greta Gerwig And Margot Robbie Miss Key Oscar Nominations
In another shocking news, Greta Gerwig and Margot Robbie aren’t nominated for the Oscars this time.
Although Barbie was Oscar Nominations in eight categories, it is shocking that Greta Gerwig wasn’t Oscar Nominations in the best directors category. Another shocking revelation is that even Margot Robbie wasn’t nominated either.
This summer we all witnessed one of the best breakthroughs and instances in cinema in the form of “Barbenheimer” but, sadly, our favourite Barbie wasn’t nominated.
However, on the other hand, our Ken AKA Ryan Gosling was Oscar Nominations in the best supporting acting category. Ryan Gosling has expressed his concern about Greta Gerwig and Margot Robbie not being nominated.
However, we still don’t know if this is patriarchy or if the judges and jury thought that this wasn’t their breakthrough performance.
Martin Scorsese Becomes The Most Nominated Filmmaker
This year was also great for Martin Scorsese as he became the most nominated film-maker of all time.
“Flowers of the Moon” was nominated in different categories and this time Martin bagged another nomination yet again.
Martin has earlier been nominated many times, and we aren’t surprised that he is nominated yet another time. We believe that he is one of the finest directors and filmmakers of all time.
First Time Nominees
There have been many first-time nominees this year, and yes we are so excited, to say the least!
Leading the list is our favourite actor from last year, and yes you guessed it right it is Cillian Murphy.
We were rooting for Cillian Murphy this year as his performance in Oppenheimer was phenomenal. He delivered one of the best performances of the year and it shouldn’t be a surprise that he was nominated in the leading category.
Another first-time nomination was for Emily Blunt. Emily Blunt also played the role quite effortlessly and she very well deserved to be nominated.
Another win was for Lily Gladstone who is the first native American to get nominated in the best actress category. Emma Stone was also nominated for the second time along with Mark Ruffalo.
Bradley Cooper was also nominated this time for his phenomenal and extraordinarily great performance in his debutant movie “maestro”
Nominations For Music
We anticipated that Billie Eilish would be nominated for her song in the Barbie and she did bagged a nomination.
Another nomination from Barbie was for ‘ I am just Ken”
Other than that, songs from the movies “American Symphony”, “Flamin Hot” and “Flowers of the Killer Moon” are also nominated.
Nominations For Best Picture
The Oscars have nominated and picked up the best films from last year for this category.
This includes Oppenheimer, Flowers of the Killer Moon, Barbie, Past Lives, Anatomy of Fall, Poor Things, Maestro, The Holdovers and The Zone of Interest.
All these movies are giving tough competition indeed and it’s really hard to anticipate which one will win this category.
Your Opinion:
Now, we have given our opinion about it. We are looking forward to the Oscars but what do you think? Who do you think will have the most amount of wins this year?
